Input for 2015 Reviews of the Oak Ridges Moraine Conservation and Greenbelt Plans

Sep 25, 2014

The Stewards of the Moraine Inc. (“Stewards”) represents a group of concerned King Township residents who joined forces in early 2012 to oppose an inappropriate commercial land use application proposed for the moraine.  This conflict resulted in an Ontario Municipal Board (“O.M.B.”) hearing (Case #PL130137; 3550 18th Sideroad; PT Lot 26,27 Conc. 6, King) in November, 2013.  As part of our ongoing mandate, the Stewards will continue vigilance to protect prime agricultural land in beautiful York Region.

In preparation for the aforementioned O.M.B. case, the Stewards commissioned many studies and peer reviews.  Guelph’s AgPlan Limited, a highly respected agricultural consulting firm, prepared one of the more important soil reports.   This report is concise, and thus will not consume much of your time to review.  We are optimistically confident that you will find the results as surprising and interesting as  we did. It is essentially the “canary in the coal mine” for the future of prime agricultural land in our area.
